Canada Post the Biggest Spammer in Canada

Canada Post just locked out their urban postal workers after 12 days of rotating strike and almost everybody who is not expecting some cash in the mail soon just don't care. That 2011 for you all our bills can be paid online the paycheck is sent to the bank electronically and I have not licked a stamp in... Shit it been years!
I think it time we have a serious conversation as a country about snail mail.

a) Why do we need to run a public postal corporation? Seriously aside from a few bills what did you got in the mail lately except publicity! And by the way it a bad marketing medium because let face it 99% of us just throw all that crap in the bin by the mail box.

b) Why is it so cheap to send a letter? I rather pay three time the postage rate and not be inundated with SPAM. If a piece of paper is so important that you can't send an Email it worth the rate for a service that SPAM free.

c) Why do we need the "Postal dude*" to pass every day?
The mail three times a week does not sound too bad either. Monday, Wednesday, Friday with no advertisement to lighten the work load. We get less service but we know that when we open the box it not to sort trash mail.

Do we need Canada Post to be Canada biggest spammer? Hell no! All am saying is the sooner this mess is over the less likely that the few Canadian who still use their service wont just move on.

I guess you are not seeing the whole picture.

Say you are expecting a wedding invitation. Do you want it to be sent online and may not receive it because it is thought to be spam? Your service might treat it to the Spam filter and guess what? No invite.

Say you are expecting a parcel. Which company will be delivering you the parcel? When you are not home during their hours, how far must you go to pick it up? The local pickup place is for Canada Post, and your item is not mailed y them.

If any electronic communications die, how will you communicate? I know that there are backups, but with the hype about radiation from wi-fi, UVA, UVB, I bet there are some people who are now wondering if the old method is effective?

You might not need to rely on Canada Post, but there are others out there who do.

The parcel business is competitive enough that somebody else like DHL and UPS will pick up the slack. In fact if this lockout last more than a few days a price war might just erupt to grab Canada Post market share in the parcel sector. And come on Wedding Invite seriously you can use social media, Email and a good old phone call for those who did not RSVP.

so true dude...so true...a dying business that the workers are gonna flog to death...it's like the argument is being clouded by inconsequential facts, we don't need Canada Post like we used to need Canada Post...why are 50,000 people fighting for more money/pensions/guarantees etc...they should be fighting for their jobs, never mind trying to hold the rest of the country hostage...we don't need 50000 workers, we probably need a little efficiency is all...but you can't, cuz it's a union...i think you may enjoy this link as well...http://idiotsticker.com/sticky.php?name=Normal%20Canadian&pic_id=246
